Why Meal Prep?
Meal prep (and food porn) is everywhere, people posting pictures of their meals for the week pre-made and ready to eat. The frustrating part is that nobody is doing it for you! What is it that's stopping you from doing it too? Is it finding recipes, going shopping for the entire week, making it all, finding the lids to your Tupperware or the cleaning up?
Well, we've taken all of those excuses out of the equation. We know as an educated society that obesity is an epidemic. So why is it so damn hard to jump on the "healthy" bandwagon and actually stay on it? For most, it's time and money (and we can be lazy). Meal prep takes time, plus, cooking can be boring, lonely and exhausting and not everything you make tastes like that fat bacon burger you go to bed dreaming about.
"I'll start doing meal prep next week," I used to say to myself, but now I can't imagine life without it. It's about what you want more. Do you want to wake up the next morning feeling gross because you know you have a busy day, you ate horrible last night and again you have no time to cook, and you know you will be eating out again? Or worse, not eating at all!!!
The number one reason to meal prep is health! If you prep meals on Sunday for your entire week you are waaaaaaaaay more likely NOT to go out and eat. If only you spent half your Sunday pretending to be a chef and made healthy clean food. When you meal prep healthy, you will have the right portioned meals to satisfy your nutritional needs. What some don’t realize is when they go out and eating 8-16 ounces of meat and whatever the hell else that greasy meal comes with, is just not necessary or helping you with your weight loss goals!
Time is our greatest commodity in life. More time means we can play with the kids longer, get more done at work or have time to hit up the gym (for the second time today). Meal prep allows for convenience and time we are always looking for, in order to do more of the things we love, take up a new hobby, try a new sport etc. When you prep all of your meals in one day it saves you so much time during the week. More time equals more life!
My final advice to you: meal prep means staying on track the majority of your week, and with less guilt. I hear over and over again, "I just can’t give up candy" or sweets, or chips, or popcorn, or whatever the hell your guilt food may be. For the sake of me not losing my mind, I’m not asking you to never eat those foods again! But the majority of the time during the week, you won’t, if you meal prep properly.
